The fuel injection pump for an internal combustion engine has a fuel supply regulating unit based on a number of parameters. The housing of the pump (1) contains a distribution unit (2) with a distribution cylinder (3) and a distribution piston (4). The supply volume control unit is in the form of a ring slider (8). The position of the volume control unit is set by hydraulic methods. There is an adjustment chamber (16) separate from the suction chamber (12) which provides a signal for a scanning transmitter (35) and a pressure controller (19) operated by an electronic control unit (33).
