Reflective, non-electrically conductive data memory medium is made by delimiting at least one data memory field in an unexposed photosensitive silver halide emulsion; forming a superficial latent image layer consisting of silver pptn. nuclei in the memory field of the emulsion; vol. concentrating these nuclei to have a maximum value on one face of the emulsion and having a reducing density gradient in the depth direction; and depositing on the nuclei particles of silver which are not in the filamentary state. The silver particles are derived by diffusion from the emulsion and are adsorbed by the nuclei to the point where the emulsion constitutes a superficial reflective, non-electrically conductive data memory field. Prods. are laser-activated video recording media which can be played back by laser immediately after recording.
