<p>A strand, cable, rope or the like composed of synthetic elementary fibres, esp. aromatic polyamide, laid up in a number of layers, comprises layers of these fibres alternately flocked and unflocked in their radial sequence from the inside to the outside. In a variant, strands of a rope are made up in this way and alternate adjacent strands have their outer layers of fibres unflocked and flocked respectively. This arrangement enables high-strength ropes to be produced without exceeding their theoretical final dia. as occurs when all the individual elements are flocked.</p> |
