PURPOSE:To easily coat an insulator high in reliability on an optical fiber cord, etc., by coating a molding material consisting of hydrogenated polyhydroxybutadiene and a specified isocyanate and toluenediisocyanate dimer on said cord as an insulator. CONSTITUTION:A preform 13 in a prescribed shape is prepared from hydrogenated polyhydroxybutadiene solid in normal temperature and having 40-130 deg.C melting point, isocyanate represented by the general formula I in which R1, R2, R3 are each same or different, and stand each for a 1-3 C alkyl group, and (n) is an integer of 1-4, and 2,4-tolylenediisocyanate dimer shown by the formula II. The preform 13 is placed between an upper metallic mold 14a and an lower metallic mold 14b, and heated to a melting temperature. Then, an optical cord 8 is placed on the mold 14b, the mold 14a is joined, both the molds are heated to 140-160 deg.C for 2hr to harden the preform and after cooling, the molded product is taken out from the molds. |
