The title app. was designed to maintain gases contg. H and O within safe explosive limits. Thus, in an app. for the prodn. of NaClO3 at 1 t/h there is evolved H 665, 0 13.5, and Cl 1.4 m3/h. The app. consists of 50 cells in 2 rows above each of which is a manifold to lead the gases to a washing column. Water pressure in the column serves to convey the gases through the manifold and entrance of air is prevented so that the gas mixt. is within the safe explosive limits. If there is a current interruption, a valve is activated and N enters into the system.
