1,029,526. Dishwashing machines. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. Aug. 4, 1964 [July 22, 1963], No. 30742/64. Heading A4F. A water softener in the supply line of a dishwashing machine is regenerated during a washing operation. When an electromagnetic valve 3 is energized by programme switching means 13, water passes from a supply line 2 via the valve 3, a water softener 5, and a pipe 6 to the washing and rinsing compartment 1. On the attainment of a predetermined water level in the compartment 1 a pressure operated switch 12 is actuated to close the valve 3 and open an electromagnetic valve 7 so that water flows through a pipe 8 and a salt supply container 9 to proceed as saltsolution to the water softener 5 to displace the softened water therein. Upon a predetermined higher liquid level being reached in the container 1 the switch 12 is actuated to close the valve 7, and the washing operation proceeds whilst the salt solution regenerates the softener 5. An alternative embodiment is described in which programme switching means initiates simultaneous water supply through two electromagnetic valves in parallel, one for supplying unsoftened water to the washing compartment, and the other for supplying water through the regenerating device to the water softener. |
