The diaphragm pump is intended as an engine fuel pump. It comprises a housing (1) containing an inlet chamber (8), outlet chamber (7) and pump chamber (6) on one side of the diaphragm (3). A partition (5) carries the valves (9,10) and separates the pump chamber (6) from the outlet chamber (7). A partition (11) separates the inlet (8) from the outlet chamber (7). The outer housing is in one piece and sealingly retains the partition (11), which may be a press-in steel plate supporting a filter (15). This filter may act as seal on a shoulder (13) in the housing and is preferably interchangeable.
