PURPOSE:Fruits bodies or vegetative mycelia of a fungus are crushed, treated with a weak acid or hot water and an enzyme is made to act on the insoluble residue to produce an antitumor substance composed of glycoprotein containing basic saccharides. CONSTITUTION:Fruit bodies or vegetative mycelia of a fungus such as MANNEN- TAKE (Ganoderma indidum), SHIITAKE mushroom (Lentinus edodes), KAWARATAKE (Cariolus versicolor) or Cochliobolus miyabeanus (causing Helminthosporium leaf spot on rice plant) are crushed and treated with hot water or a weak acid such as acetic acid or protionic acid. Then, an enzyme is made to act on the insoluble residue to produce an antitumor substance composed of glycoprotein containing basic saccharides such as N-acetylglucosamine and N-acetylgalactosamine. The insoluble substance is adjusted in pH to weak acidity with a phosphate buffer solution and lysozyme is made to act on at 25-30 deg.C for several days. The resultant protein is composed of aspartic acid, threonine, serine, glutamic acid, glycine and other aminoacids. |
