The flap (13) with handle (34) is used on packages made from cardboard blanks. A cantilever tab (21) extends from the longitudinal centre line of the flap at each end, and a finger-strap extends over all the length of the centre line towards each tab. The strap is formed by cutting entirely or partly through the thickness of the flap (13') from one of its major faces. The tabs fold through 180 degreesonto the flap to provide sufficient strap slack for a finger loop, which is folded onto the face from which the cut was made. The tabs may be glued to the flap once folded down and the strap may be associated with a doubling band which effects its separation.
