PURPOSE:To manufacture the black matrix of a color image receiving tube by a simple method by coating a substrate with a specified water-soluble photosensitive composition, irradiating the resulting film with chemical radiation haing a prescribed pattern, and developing it after alkali treatment. CONSTITUTION:A substrate such as a glass plate is coated with a water-soluble photosensitive composition consisting of a water-soluble aromatic diazonium salt such as 4-(dimethylamino)benzendiazonium chloride zinc chloride, water-soluble phenols such as hydroquinoline, and a water-soluble high molecular compound such as polyvinylpyrrolidone. The resulting film is patterwise exposed to chemical radiation such as ultraviolet rays, brought into contact with an alkaline gas or liq. such as gaseous ammonia or an aqueous ammonia soln., and washed in water to remove the exposed part of the film from the substrate. Thus, a pattern is formed. |
