In a heating film for heating a surface such as a vehicle seat, comprising a flexible electrical resistance heating element in the form of a metal foil (1) carried by at least one flexible insulating support layer (2) the film may be stretched in one or more directions without damaging the foil (1) by providing the support layer (2) at positions unoccupied by the foil with at least two elongated weakenings (8) extending in different directions. By providing narrow bridges 9, 10 between the weakenings 8 (slots), the support layer 2 is ruptured along the break-lines thereby formed without damaging the foil 1 should the film be stretched excessively. <IMAGE> |
