Stretching tab fastener stock transverse connectors - by feeding around two toothed wheels in angled planes

Stock having two side members joined at intervals by transverse connectors is continuously stretched by feeding to a pair of toothed wheels rotating at the same speed but in different planes to form an angled gap between them converging to the connector unstretched length and diverging to the desired connector stretched length. The connectors are engaged in the notches formed by the while most of the side members engage the outside of the teeth to support them against deformation so that they remain without permanent deformation. The stock pref. passes along an arcuate path so that the connectors remain in the notches during stretching. The stock is e.g. of nylon, polyethylene, polypropylene or polyurethane, for attaching buttons or tags.
