The present invention concerns a method and arrangement to enable connections in a data communication network between terminal layouts, such as telephone sets A, B, in figure 1, even in such cases where said terminal devices A, B are configured to work with different data speeds or when the connection between these terminal devices in the data communication network includes transfer devices, such as data links, that work with a data speed different from the data speed used by the terminal devices. This is achieved in that the particular digital terminal device A, B is configured to extract clock signals from digital data received from the data communication network to generate a local clock signal to set the time for the data bit rate from the terminal device and respond either to a digital code word that is received or to the bit rate of incoming data so as to send data with different bit rate at respective times, and for this purpose it is outfitted with a period measuring circuit 40, figure 2, for determining the data rate of the incoming signals, and a time circuit 41 which can be actuated by the period measuring circuit for switching between two different conditions which are related to different data speeds, so that a clock extraction circuit 2 in the time circuit 41 is made to extract the clock signal from the separate incoming data. <IMAGE> |
