<p>A continuously running centrifuge for separating sugar crystals from their mother liquor and allowing them to be mixed with a syrup comprises a tank (10) in which is mounted a rotating basket (14) having a vertical axis, in the form of an inverted frustum and equipped with a sieve (16), a collector (36) surrounding the basket and nozzles arranged in the form of spraying booms (32, 32') which project a syrup on to the crystals expelled from the basket. To improve the mixing of the crystals and the mixing syrup while ensuring intense agitation of these products by means of the flow of air created by the rotation of the basket, the collector is formed by a flat ring (36) of low width attached to the wall of the tank (10), slightly below the upper edge of the basket (14) and the centrifuge further comprises a circular skirt (34) solidly fixed to the lid (35) of the tank and placed above the upper edge of the basket, and an annular trough (40) to receive the mixture of crystals and syrup, the inclined bottom (44) whereof possesses a plurality of outlet apertures (42). <IMAGE></p> |
