An apparatus (10) for sensing a flow of liquid passing through a conduit (17). Independently of any flow of gas passing therethrough, comprises an inlet (15) and an outlet (16), a float valve device for separating incoming gas from incoming liquid and comprising a float chamber (13) having an inlet (19) connected to the inlet (15) of the apparatus, a gas outlet (28) terminating into a gas passage (30) and located at an upper portion of said chamber, a liquid outlet (29) terminating into a liquid passage (31) and located at a lower portion of said chamber, and a float actuated valve member (25, 26, 27) to shut off either of said outlets (28 or 29) according to the liquid level, the apparatus further comprising sensing means (32) for sensing the flow of liquid alone passing through the liquid passage. A housing for the float chamber (13) is formed by a body of the apparatus, consisting of at least two portions (11, 12) which are releasably connected to each other, the liquid passage (31) and the liquid outlet (29) of the float chamber (13) as well as the gas channel (30) and the gas outlet (28) of the float chamber being formed in a portion (12) of said body which may be removed as an integral unit from the remainder (11) of said body. <IMAGE> |
