PURPOSE:To perform effective separation, by installing a shifting magnetic field generating device which generates a shifting magnetic field in the direction which is opposite to the running direction of a belt conveyor which carries a mixture containing nonmagnetic metals, below the belt conveyor, and by forming a recess section on the surface of the belt in the separating area so that both margins of the belt may have different heights and the belt may be inclined. CONSTITUTION:A running belt 73 carries a mixture containing nonmagnetic metals and a shifting magnetic field generating device 78 which generates a shifting magnetic field in the direction of the belt 73, is installed at the lower surface side of the belt 73. In the separating area in which the shifting magnetic field generating device 78 is located, a recess section whose height is lower than that of adjacent areas in the running direction of belt 73, is formed, and different heights are given to both margins of the belt 73 so that the belt 73 may be inclined in the direction which is normal to the running direction of the belt 73. When the above-mentioned mixture containing nonmagnetic metals is put on the higher section of the belt 73 above the shifting magnetic field generating device 78, the nonmagnetic metals are subjected to a separating action which repels the nonmagnetic metals with an electromagnetic force, and separated in the direction of an arrow (a), and then, contained in a container 84. On the other hand, the mixture other than the nonmagnetic metals is carried in the direction of another arrow (b). |
