PURPOSE:To form the terminal part of an optical fiber with high accuracy and a low cost, by securing a mold formation for the terminal part by inserting the tip of an optical fiber element from which the protective layer is eliminated into a hole provided to a projection of the hollow bottom of a mold. CONSTITUTION:The tip of an optical fiber element 10 from which a protective layer 9 at the terminal part of an optical fiber 1 is inserted into an element inserting hole within a molding tool 2 until the end surface touches the bottom 11 of the hole 8. Under such conditions, a cover body 4 is fixed to a mold main body 3. Then the polyethylene resin projected through an injection hole 14 to form the terminal part. In this case, the air within a mold hollow 5 is discharged through an air vent 12 to densely fill the resin into the hollow 5 with no gap at all. Then the resin in the hollow 5 is solidified to form a terminal part 15 of the fiber 1. |
