Superconductor spot welding - by interposition of easily fusible superconductor component and rising pulses

A spot welding system for two workpieces with at least 1 of them carrying a superconductive intermetallic cpd. coating applies welding pulses after a layer of an easily fusible component of an intermetallic cpd. has been deposited on one of them. The welding heat is produced by two or three consecutive pulses, each at a higher input and each accompanied by a higher compressive force of the electrodes. This ensures a reliable welded joint which retains all features of super conductivity e.g. for joints of superconductive cables.
