PURPOSE:To obtain a deviation detecting apparatus for an ink jet recorder, by a method wherein divided electrodes are arranged adjacent to a slit of a base asymmetrically with respect to the divided position in the deflected direction of a charged ink droplet thereby a sensor would not be smeared and maximum and minimum heights of the deviation can be detected. CONSTITUTION:The diviation dtecting apparatus for an ink jet recorder comprises and insulating base 1 having a slit 2 and the detecting electrodes 31, 32 with the lower electrode 32 being longer than the other. Thus, of ink droplets jetted from an ink jet head 5, even an ink droplet passing below an ink deviation region (a) due to some cause such as shift of timing of a charge phase would pass through the slit 2 and will be received in a gutter 9 so that the electrode 32 would not be smeared. Further the charge reference voltage can be precisely set by detecting the maximum and minimum heights of the deviation. |
