PURPOSE:To prevent a different magnetic tape from being loaded in error by adding a device, processing mount information on a tape, to a magnetic tape controller and by providing a magnetic tape operating device with a device which display the volume series number of the tape. CONSTITUTION:A mount command from a central processor CPU is passed thorugh a channel device CHC and inputted to a typewriter TYP and the processor MP of a tape controller MTC respectively. A mount information processor MP derects the series number of an operating device specified by information to send the serias number, a mount request signal and a volume series number to the tape operating device MTU having the prescribed series number, and on its display device DSP, the mount request signal M and volume series number are displayed. Consequently, an operator collates and confirms the volume series number at the position of the specified operating device MTU to mount a tape. |
