A device for adjusting the alignment of headlights, in particular motor vehicle headlights, comprises a control knob, an electric motor which has a reversible direction of rotation and is connected to a headlight by means of a mechanical transmission and a direction switch which has a movable conductor track with at least two conductor sectors separated by two insulating gaps and two movable contacts which rest in each case against a sector. The conductor sectors and the contacts are connected to the terminals of the motor or of a voltage source whilst the control knob and the headlight themselves are connected to the movable conductor track and to the movable contacts, respectively via mechanical transmission elements. The device is of robust construction and when the control knob is actuated it permits the headlights to be adjusted precisely with a large degree of operating reliability in one direction of rotation or the other.
