The lock is used for securing a metal or plastics bicycle pump. The pump has a cylinder lock in the sleeve-shaped handle, so that when it is clamped under helical spring force between two retaining lugs on the bicycle frame, it is securely connected to the frame. The lock can also prevent use of the pump when removed from the bicycle frame. The pump can have a guideway preventing the handle from being turned on the sheath tube, and thus permitting tumbler and closure holes to be centred. A universal key, fitting other locks on the bicycle, can be used.
