Suspension system for electric railway overhead cables - uses triangular yoke coupled to pole and supporting two adjustable rods which attach to clamps on overhead cable

The suspension is used for overhead electric cables used as contact wires for electric railway locomotives uses a triangular yoke fixed to a support pole and coupled to two rods spread on either side of the yoke and clamped at their ends to the overhead cable. The use of adjustable rods (2) to link the support yoke (1) and the cable clamps (E) overcomes the difficulty experienced using twisted cable links of a residual curve after rolling of the cable for transport or of the cable un-twisting under tension. The triangular yoke piece (1) is suspended by a link (5) from the support pole (P). The solid link rods (2) have an adjustable eye at one end, and are bolted between the yoke and one of the several positions available along the length of the cable clamps (E). Long spans can be supported by using a second yoke at the end of the first rod, supporting two more rods fixed to two clamps.
