<p>The front door lock for a house contains a lock barrel which, when turned by a key, causes movement of at least one latch (15). The latch can also be moved by turning a second lock barrel (37) using a different key when the barrel has been released by an external combination lock (65) or by a solenoid operated from inside the house. Movement of the second barrel (37) is transmitted by three meshing pinions (28,26,25) to the latch release. The lock allows emergency access to old peoples homes by a warder holding the second key and knowing the combination.</p> |
