Eddy current brake for motor torque measurement - uses adjustable permanent magnets to provide flux field determining braking moment

The brake has a brake disc (5) driven by the motor and rotating in the magnetic field of several permanent magnets (6). The size of the braking moment can be adjusted by varying the position of the magnets (6) relative to the brake disc (5). The magnets (6) may be adjusted individually, as separate groups or all at the same time. Pref. the motor (1) being tested is attached to the cover (2) of the brake and is coupled to the shaft (4) of the brake disc (5). The permanent magnets (6) providing the magnetic field are supported by a carrier (7) which can be raised and lowered to adjust the field intensity in the brake disc (5). The brake housing (10) rotates against the force of a spring (11) by an amount corresp. to the delivered torque.
