A novel pharmaceutical composition containing zinc salts associated with L-glutamic acid and if desired, other non-toxic L-amino acids. The pharmaceutical formulations and compositions of this invention has been found to be effective in combatting and healing a large spectrum of diseases, some of which are known to be caused by zinc deficiency as well as others which have hitherto not been known to be associated with zinc-deficiency.
