The device comprises a frame 10, mounted stationary on the vehicle 1, and a movable assembly 12. The latter can be moved from a low position (shown at 2) to a high position as shown at 3. It is therefore possible to mount two stretchers along the lateral walls of the vehicle without being impeded by the wheel housings 4 and 5. The movable assembly 12 remains permanently horizontal during its movements inside the vehicle. The movements are controlled by a jack acting on rods mounted in articulated parallelograms.
