1310554 Laminates L FELCIAI 10 July 1970 [29 April 1970] 33747/70 Heading B5N A stressed-skin sandwich material used for building comprises walls which are interconnected by a plurality of rib members, part of each rib member being inclined with respect to part of another of the rib members and being fixed thereto with fibres and resin or strips or pieces of fabric and adhesive, in the angle between the parts of the rib members, the spaces between the walls being filled with granules or pieces, variously shaped, of cellular, unicellular or expanded material. The ribs which may have flanges may be joined at right angles or other suitable angles by spraying glass or other fibres and resin into the angles. The ribs may be vertically reinforced by corrugated or other suitable sheeting on one or both sides of the rib. The cellular material may be of a phenolic, polyurethane, polystyrene, cellulose acetate, polyvinyl chloride, epoxide or silicone resin. The sandwich material may be assembled in a mould of wood, aluminium, steel or plastics material. |
