<p>Apparatus for the treatment of flat, flexible objects esp for the softening of leather; consists of two opposed treatment elements; the upper element is not driven but the lower element is mounted to execute an up and down movement. The elements are fitted with projections which engage in each other so that when the leather is passed between them they curve and elongate the leather. The upper element is suspended from a piston whose height can be adjusted by hydraulic pressure against a compression spring. Means are provided for adjusting the height of this piston continuously to suit differences in the thickness and the rigidity of the leather; this adjustment is considerably simplified for the operators.</p> |
