PRODUCTION OF MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium suited to the magnetic recording of high density, by giving the impact of field-accelerated electrons to a crucible containing a ferromagnetic metal to heat the crucible and then making the evaporated particles incident onto a base material. CONSTITUTION:The current biased to negative potential is supplied from a negative potential bias AC power supply terminal 14 to electron beam emitting filaments 13 of an evaporating ion source 8 which is provided within a vacuum tank 1 that is kept at a high vacuum degree of 8X10<-4>-1X10<-10>Torr. Thus the electrons are radiated and accelerated at the electric field between a crucible 9 and the filaments 13 to be impacted the crucible 9 and then heated. Thus a ferromagnetic metal is evaporated, and these evaporated particles are radiated through the filaments 13 provided at the upper part of an evaporating port 10 to be impacted to the electrons received the field acceleration toward the crucible 9. Thus the evaporated particles are ionized and receive the field acceleration toward an acceleration electrode 3 which is kept at a high degree of negative potential to be made incident onto the surface of a base material 5 made of a nonmagnetic material.
