PURPOSE:To change sleeve surfaces in correspondence to the shapes of a solidified shell and prevent bulging by mounting collars to shafts in opposition to both end faces of the sleeves fitted to the shafts and suppressing the bulging of the sleeves in their longitudinal direction by these collars. CONSTITUTION:A shaft 2 which is supported at both ends by bearings 3, a cylindrical sleeve 4 fitted to the shaft 2, and collars 5, 6 mounted to the shaft 2 in opposition to both end parts of the sleeve 4 in order to suppress the bulging of the sleeve 4 in its longitudinal direction are provided to a guide roller 1 for a continuous casting installation. Molten metal is poured to the mold 20 of the continuous casting installation disposed with plural pairs of the guide rollers 1 of such constitution below the mold 20, and the solidified shell is drawn while it is subjected to secondary cooling by water cooling in the part right under the mold 20, but the surfaces of the sleeves 4 are changed in correspondence to the shapes of the solidified shell by the collars 5, 6, whereby bulging is prevented. |
