<p>In the synthesis of penicillin antibiotics by acylation of the mono- or bis-silylated 6-aminopenicillanic acid with an acid chloride or protected acid chloride in an organic solvent and subsequent elimination of the silyl and other protective groups, the acylation stage is improved by using an amide of the formula R<1>CONHR<2> as hydrogen halide acceptor; in this, R<1> is lower alkyl, aralkyl, amino, mono- or di-(lower alkyl)amino and R<2> is hydrogen, lower alkyl or aralkyl.</p> |
