Machine for sewing nets has a needle disposed vertically with the point upwards, which operates in conjunction with two horizontal loopers. The edges of the nets to be joined are laid one on top of the other and fed to the needle through a channel formed at the edge of a support plate, which is sepd. by a recess in the plate for the passage of the needle, from a co-linear holding channel on the far side of the needle, in the upper face of which is a presser foot which holds the edges of the nets firmly during the loop-formation process. The dispositions of the needle and workpieces reduce the stress on the needle and facilitate the sewing operation. The machine can handle a wide range of net sized, composed of any size of mesh in cords of any dia. from 0.6 mm upwards.
