Ship-steering equipment with propeller - has propeller and water-guiding devices at ends of U=shaped passage

The ship-steering equipment is particularly to aid manoeuvring of a cargo vessel when empty and thus riding high in the water, having a propeller mounted in a passage also containing blades for directing the water moved by the propeller. The passage (1) is U-shaped, with the propeller (6) mounted near the free end of one arm of the U, while the guiding devices (11) are at that of the other arm. The devices can be fixed to a shaft (9) parallel to the vertical propeller shaft (7), the upper end of the latter being coupled to a driving motor. The devices can consist of a number of parallel blades including an angle of less than 90 deg. with a plane at right angles to the vertical shaft by which they are adjusted.
