Friction false twister

A friction false twister consists of two discs moved relative to one another in the overlap region and having parallel or slightly staggered axes of rotation. The discs are so arranged with their axles in mountings that the distance between the two discs and/or their position in relation to the yarn running through between them is variable. The discs form a twisting region on the side facing the yarn running through. For this, at least one of the two discs is movable in a cardanic manner on its axle, in that it consists, for example, of a flexible or pliable, but tension-resistant material. A pressing-down device serves for ensuring good yarn contact. As a result of the geometrical positioning of the pressing-down device, on the one hand, and the disc mountings, on the other hand, in relation to one another and by the adjustment of other operating parameters, such as the yarn speed, rotational speed of the discs and pressing force of the pressing-down device, the best possible operating conditions, including the twisting direction, can be set.
