PURPOSE:To perform cleaning and demagnetizing of a photosensitive drum without the need for consuming parts and without mechanical contact by turning a magnet roll within a cylindrical sleeve opposite to the drum. CONSTITUTION:A magnet roll 4 in a sleeve 5 of a cleaning roller opposing to a magnetic photosensitive drum 1 turns in a direction opposite from that of the drum 1. Then, the toner remained on the drum 1 is attracted to the surface of the sleeve 5 by magnetic force and is thereby removed. At the same time, alternating magnetic fields are applied to the drum 1 by turning of the roll 4, whereby the demagnitizing of the drum 1 is accomplished simultaneously. On the other hand, when the drum 5 is turned, the soft magnetic material 11 of the drum 5 opposes to the drum 1, thus disabling the cleanig and demagnetizing. Hence, the need for consumable parts such as resilient fibers or the like is eliminated and the cleaning and demagnetizing of the photosensitive drum are accomplished without mechanical contact. |
