The cutter is used in underground mines. A cylindrical or truncated conical base unit is fitted with helically aligned moving-carrier bars round its periphery, acting as a cutting disc revolving about an axis perpendicular to the work face. Individual bars (6-8) have a cutting edge extending over their radial height (10). This has one or more nozzles (15) for constant or pulsating spraying of a jet (16) of liq. under high pressure. The nozzle is sited in the periphery (5) of the base unit (2), with the axis of its hole, parallel to the cutting edge length, within the cutting plane and directly in front of the cutting edge.
