Starter for high frequency fluorescent tube in standby lighting - uses starter supplied through diode rectifier bridge to preheat filaments and provide ignition from transient voltage

The circuit uses a rectifier bridge in series with the starter. The starter can then supply DC to preheat the filaments and provide the voltage transient to ignite the tube. The tube is supplied from a transistorised (Tr) blocking oscillator (Lp,L1,C1), transformer (Lp,Ls) coupled to the fluorescent tube (T). A series capacitor (C) limits the tube current after starting initiated by starter(S) fed through the diode bridge (D1-D4). The circuit also includes a converter (52) which supplies the tube, and operates in class C mode. The converter has, in series with the collector of the transistor (Tr)- which has an earthed emitter- a primary winding folded back on the positive pole of an accumulator.
