Process for preparing oil-containing plant material for solvent extraction

The aim of the invention is to prepare oil-containing plant material in such a way that in the subsequent extraction the layer of the plant material ensures, because of the reduced content of fines, an adequate and uniform percolation for the extractant, and a maximum yield of oil is achieved with a short extraction time. According to the invention, cleaned, peeled, comminuted and screened plant material, which has been subjected to a direct moisture/temperature treatment at 110-120 DEG C and rolling to give flakes about 0.25 mm thick, is prepared by gentle drying in a suitable turbulent channel at a maximum of 110 DEG C. The plant material which has been rolled to flakes is, for the preparation, passed exclusively under the action of gravity into a feed device of a suitable turbulent channel and adjusted, by means of gas flows which pulsate asynchronously in stages, with simultaneous mechanical stabilisation, to a final moisture content of 1.5-6.0% by mass.
