PURPOSE:To irradiate a recording medium with an adequate quantity of light by varying the quantity of laser light by placing an optical member in front of a recording member. CONSTITUTION:An ND filter 8 for dimming out light is interposed right before where a deflected laser beam 7 scans on a drum 4. The maximum quantity of light from a laser 1 is set enough for the detection of a beam position detector 6, and the quantity of light incident to the drum 4 is so reduced by the filter 8 that the best contrast is obtained on the drum. Then, light incident to the detector 6 is reflected by a mirror 5 in front of the filter and guided to the detector 6 without attenuating. |
