A connecting sleeve for single-core, screened power cables having extruded plastics insulation and an external conducting layer comprises a prefabricated, elastic, stretched or cranked cylindrical insulator surrounding the conductors and having in its central bore a screening electrode for surrounding the plug connection; at one or both ends there is an internally embedded control deflector. This insulator is made up of two or three rotationally symmetrical components (1,2), one of which contains the screening electrode (3) and the other (1 or 2 components) contain a control deflector (5) each; the inner bore of the first component has a conical recess at the end, into which the truncated conical end of the other component or components (2) projects. This plug connection or sleeve can be used for cables in which the external diameter of the plug contact is larger than the external diameter of the core insulation; nevertheless assembly is easy.
