PURPOSE:To operate in the fully automatic white balanced state without pushing any switch by composing the titled regulator of a device which detects the color temperature of illumination and a device which adjusts white balance automatically. CONSTITUTION:A condenser 21 condenses the external light of a visual field including an object, a color temperature detector 22 detects the color temperature of the condensed light, and a color-temperature fluctuation detector 23 discriminates whether the detected color temperature fluctuates to a prescribed extent or more. When the discrimination results show that the fluctuation exceeds the prescribed extent, a gate signal generator 24 generates a gate signal for turning on gate circuits 19 and 20. Consequently, two negative feedback loops of gain control circuit 4 and 5, detectors 6 and 7, subtracters 8 and 9, smoothing circuits 10 and 11, gate circuits 19 and 20, and storing circuits 14 and 15 are put in operation so that the outputs of the subtracters 8 and 9 are 0s. Consequently, if the color temperature of an object fluctuates during image pickup operation, the circuits 19 and 20 are turned on automatically to operate the function of adjusting white balance, thereby performing the image pickup operation in the white-balanced state. |
