<p>The arrangement is intended for foil-packing sectional aluminium members etc. Two continuous lengths of foil meet each other at an angle and move in a downwardly inclined direction. The foil layers are welded together transversely and, between successive welding operations, members are each time allowed to slide under their own weight between the two layers up to a point near the previousl weld join. Each foil layer may consist of laterally overlapping lengths whilst the weld joins are interrupted at the overlaps. The foil feed is preferably intermittent under the control of time relays and sensors detecting the presence of members on the ramp and near the welding station. Used for foil-packing easily damaged long sectional members or the lime,in aluminium, plastic, wood, etc. The arrangement avoids manual handling normally used when wrapping the members or inserting them into foil tubes.</p> |
