PURPOSE:To provide a lubricating oil composition having excellent extreme-pressure properties, antioxidizing properties, etc., by adding a specific organotin borate compound to a lubricating oil. CONSTITUTION:An organotin halide or organotin oxide such as monomethyltin trichloride or dibutyltin oxide is reacted with a mercaptoalcohol to form an organotin compound having hydroxide groups, which is esterified with boric acid to prepare an organotin borate ester (e.g. formula II, formula III, formula IV) containing the group represented by formula I, where R<1> is alkyl and R<2> is alkylene, in its molecule. The organotin borate ester compound is added to a lubricating base oil such as mineral oils and natural animal and vegetable oils as an extreme-pressure additive and antioxidant in an amount of about 0.1-10wt%, based on the base oil, to provide the object lubricating oil composition. |
