PURPOSE:To obtain rapid and ease optical switching, by connecting a light beam of a bypass optical transmission line connected to the terminal equipment of a transmission line at the key point of a main optical fiber transmission line, by attaching and detaching a cartridge. CONSTITUTION:A cartridge holder 34 for inserting an optical connecting cartridge 39 is placed in a part of optical fiber cables 31, 31', and a repeating cartridge 39 equipped with a connection means 38 for directly coupling the respective optical fiber cables 31, 31' is provided between end parts of an optical transmission line in this holder 34. And, this repeating cartridge 39, and a bypass cartridge 44 for changing-over the optical connection to a bypass transmission line 41 between the respective optical fiber cables 31, 31' ar arranged so as to connect one of them optionally and selectively. |
