A method of manufacturing articles with a surfacing coating comprises multilayer welding of a metal on the article, its machining and tempering. Welding on the first layer is carried out so that intermittent penetrations of the base of that layer into the metal of the article are formed along the surface of the latter, the metal of the coating being so chosen that its coefficient of thermal expansion is less than that of the metal of the article. The article made with the use of that method has a relief form of the boundary surface (S) in the welding zone of the coating (8) to the article (1) and has residual stresses at least within the limits of the thickness of that welding zone. |
