The appts. has a ball bearing assembly which acts on an input shaft around which is a sleeve. A fixed assembly fits over the sleeve which has an orifice to permit relative movement of the ball bearing assembly. The input shaft has a support surface with a low slope w.r.t. the common axis. The fixed assembly has a second support surface with a greater slope. These slopes are in opposing directions and by displacing the shaft the sleeve moves in the same direction with an amplified effort but with reduced travel. The sleeve acts on the tightening element either directly or via corner elements.
