NEW MATERIAL:A dibenzoxazepine derivative shown by the formula I (R1 is H, halogen, lower alkyl, or lower alkoxy; R2 is H or lower alkyl; R3 is H, lower alkyl, phenyl, or styryl). EXAMPLE:4-Mehoxydibenzo[b,f][1,4]oxazepine-8-carboxylic acid ethyl ester. USE:Having lipid and peroxidelipid lowering actions, blood sugar lowering actions, and inhibiting actions on blood platelet aggregation, and usuful as a drug. PROCESS:A compound shown by the formula II is subjected to ring opening using an anhydrous inert solvent, e.g., benzene, chloroform, etc. in the presence of a dehydrating agent, e.g., phosphorus oxychloride, etc. under heating, to give a compound shown by the formula I. The raw material compound shown by the formula II is also novel and obtained easily by acylating a corresponding aminodiphenyl ether derivative.
