PURPOSE:To prevent trouble such as environmental pollution in treating gas containing sulfur oxides using a Claus furnace by extracting a part of carbonic adsorbent subjected deterioration and loss and utilizing it as a reducing agent of a reducing furnace. CONSTITUTION:Gas from which sulfur oxide (SO2) is removed is made free from SO2 by dry active carbon adsorbent layers alpha, beta in the line 1, and goes out from the line 2 as treated gas. Steam, about 500 deg.C in temperature, enters from the line 3 and carries adsorbed SO2 to the line 4. The gaseous SO2 in the line 4 is divided into two parts. A part of it is reduced to H2S, CS2, etc. in a reducing furnace gamma in a by-pass 5 and is returned to the line 6 which is on the extension of the line 4 and joined again. Then, it is reacted in the Claus furnaces to obtain sulfer. The active carbon deteriorated by adsorption and desorption is taken out and sent to the reducing furnace gamma from the line 10 to act as a reducing agent for SO2. Then, it becomes small grains and is taken out from the line 11 and utilized as regenerated active carbon or fuel.
|
