Hall-effect sensor e.g. for detecting speed of ferromagnetic pinion

The sensor (100) has an i.c. chip (12) with a flat Hall effect element (14) arranged in parallel. It has a plane defined by front and rear sides and the element is located at 90 deg. and centrally to one sensor axis. The sensor has a magnetic structure (15,16,17,18) with north and south poles, the magnetic structure being located behind the sensor plane so that a north and a south pole lie next to one another and both are adjacent to the element. The sensor is suitable for directing a ferromagnetic object (11) in its vicinity.
